In October, Lockwood launched a gorgeous new range of door handles combining style with function. The new Brass Core Range levers are designed to integrate with the character of buildings. Providing architects with design options fit for aesthetic continuity and elegant lever designs that meet compliance requirements.
“It was exciting to release new levers. They are more suited to architectural needs and can integrate with the character of any space,” says ASSA ABLOY Product Manager, Malila Gabuardi.
“Lockwood offers durable, high quality door furniture and are well known in the Australian and global market. We identified a gap for commercial grade door furniture fit for architectural style needs”
According to Malila, architects that are designing buildings for public use are increasingly focused on using products that meet the Australian Standard AS1428.1 – Design for Access and Mobility.”
“People often think that a lever that is compliant can’t be stylish. That it needs to look bulky or commercial. That’s not the case. It can look amazing and be compliant at the same time.”
“This was an opportunity to renew our entire lever range. Update the current styles and meet requirements that are expected within the industry.”
“If a building is going to be for public access, you can pretty much guarantee that the door handles in use will need to comply.”
“However, when we talked to architects, we found that there was confusion in regard to what products meet accessibility and mobility compliance standards.”
“We found that a lot of architects use one specific door handle in buildings designed for public access, as they consider it to be the only product that is compliant. What we want to do is introduce them to our new range. It fulfils the same application and there is a lot of design options to select from.”
“We put a great deal of intelligence and engineering into making these designed for automation. Meaning we can produce these in a quick lead time for any project or architect. Our focus is to continue to create products that connect the architect’s design intent with the Lockwood quality.”
The new Brass Core Range comes in 32 lever styles and is proudly designed and assembled in Australia with Lockwood’s trusted quality at its core.
“Architects that have seen the new design have told us that the new range integrates well with other architectural fittings and building styles. The new levers provide more consistency and design language connection.”
The reason why it’s called the Brass Core Range is because it is made from brass at its core. This is a hard-wearing, high quality material that also ensures other finishes are possible, including brass, bronze, white, copper, or any other colour coating.
This range is what architects have been waiting for. A handle is not just a tool, it’s part of the style from an architectural point of view. It is also how people connect with buildings. The new Brass Core Range is stylish and functional. It fits seamlessly with any building and due to the quality of the materials, it will look good through the building’s life cycle.
The team at ASSA ABLOY are now considering where there are gaps in the market for other stylish and compliant door fittings and finishes including entance sets, turns and other door harware accessories.
